Studying in Denmark - Green card Scheme

Studying in Denmark is a great decision for any foreign student and it might prove easier than expected by use of the Denmark green card scheme. The high education institutions in Denmark offer quality education that is recognized worldwide and plenty of opportunities for researchers. As a foreign student if you apply for a Danish green card it’s possible to be granted a temporary immigration to Denmark to enable you to pursue higher education in Denmark.

For a Nordic citizen you are free to study, work or live in Denmark but for students from other countries you have to meet a number of requirements to be granted a short-term Denmark immigration permit including; a proof that you have been admitted to a higher education program that has been state approved or if the program is being offered by a recognized public institution. You also have to prove that you are able support yourself for the period you will be residing in Denmark and in case you have paid the tuition fee for the first semester you can use this as a document to show that you can support yourself.

The Denmark green card scheme for students also requires that the applying student should be able to speak, understand and have proper knowledge of English and the four Scandinavian languages i.e. Danish, German, Norwegian and Swedish. A temporary immigration to Denmark may be granted for an entire programme or for a programme that you have studied in another country and want to complete it in Denmark and this must have been arranged by the respective ministry or the institution.

The period of the permit depends on whether you are starting the programme from scratch or are a continuing student.  You are granted the entire period of study for the former and a maximum of two years for the latter and in both cases you must be enrolled to the institution and be active otherwise your permit can be revoked.
