How a Danish work permit can be acquired

The Danish work permit can be granted to people already employed in Denmark or by a Danish company, self employed persons plying or wishing to ply their trade in Denmark or by jobseekers. Each of these categories of applicants is considered separately and therefore different requirements have to be met.

Employees under the positive line scheme, the corporate scheme, researchers, athletes etc applying for the Danish work permit must supply information which must be corroborated by their employers.  Your Danish employer has to initiate the application procedure by filling his part in the form and attaching certain documents to it. He then gives you the form together with the documents which you have to fill and attach other documents before submitting. Different types of applicants require different types of application forms. There are special forms for researchers, religious workers, and employees under the pay-limit, positive light or corporate schemes among others. The form has to be filled with a detailed description of the applicant and the form should be filled by your Danish employer.

For self employed persons wishing to acquire a Danish work permit, the application doesn’t have to be filled by the employer. The application forms can be directly downloaded from the internet. Alternatively, printed versions of the form can be obtained from the Danish embassy in the applicant’s country of residence, from the local police or the immigration department’s service centre.

Job seekers who have qualified for the Denmark Greencard also need to acquire a Danish work permit before commencing. Otherwise they would not be considered for jobs in Denmark. The jobseeker’s application form has to be filled by only one person. Detailed description on how the form should be completed is provided. These instructions are very vital. All documents have to be attached as directed. It is very common for Danish work permit requests to be rejected even from applicants in the Denmark Greencard scheme who don’t disclose full information

You documents and application forms will then be processed. Sometimes the Danish immigration service may conduct other organizations to corroborate the information you have provided. In case of any discrepancies, then you will be asked to explain. Once all information has been received, a ruling is made and send to the diplomatic mission in which you submitted the application, you address, if you already reside in Denmark or your lawyer. If your application get rejected you can appeal if case complies with guidelines provided by the ministry of integration.
