Denmark Embassy Visa

Anyone looking a short stay in Denmark (6 months or less) is required to have a visa.  However, people from certain countries whose diplomatic relations with the Danish government exempt them from this visa requirement need not bother. Most countries in the EU region, USA and Canada do not need a visa to travel to Denmark. All they need is a valid passport issued by those countries. However, there also are many other counties across the world whose citizens can enter Denmark without having to obtain a visa from the Denmark embassy. These are mostly countries that issue biometric passports.

The Denmark embassy visa application is a very easy process. Very few documents are required to process your visa and the average response time to visa applications is generally short, usually less than 2 weeks. The applicant must first produce a valid passport or other form of id, e.g. biometric scan before the Denmark embassy visa application procedure can start. Two passport photos (35 mm by 45 mm), an invitation from the applicant’s reference in Denmark and information about that reference, e.g., alien identification or CPR number. The invitation must contain information about the purpose of your visit, the address and name of the persons you may visit as well as how the applicant relates to the reference.

In some cases, additional information may be required when applying for a Denmark embassy visa. Since a processing fee is charged, it would be wise to make inquiries about the acceptability of your application. Remember you won’t get a refund if your application gets rejected as the charge covers the work involved in assessing and processing your documents. Denmark embassy visa fees are streamlined with the requirements of the Schengen region. Most consulates and embassies around the world charge about 100 Euros for processing the application. However certain exception exist for diplomats, persons who with passports from countries whose citizenry do not require visas to travel to Denmark and people employed by the united nations on official travel among many others. Please check if you qualify under any of these criteria as you may save yourself a lot of time.

Students wishing to study in Denmark generally have an easier time acquiring a Denmark embassy visa. This is because Denmark is keen to attract many international students to its universities. Apart form being granted at the Denmark embassy visa, foreign students also get a residence permit for the duration of their studies.
